Descrizione: A Spanish company focused on Environmental analysis (water, air, sludge, soil), Microbiology, Molecular biology, Pathogen detection, Organic microcontaminants detection, Olfactometry, Proficiency testing schemes, Reference Materials, is looking for entities which will form a consortium to participate in the environmental call: “Water challenges for a changing world” published the 12th of January with deadline 20th of March. The need to conform to The Water Framework Directive (WFD) 2000/60/CE in the two types of standards proposed by environmental quality standards
(EQS) directive (2008/105/EC): 1) average concentration calculated over a selected period (AA); 2) maximum allowable concentration (MAC) detecting sporadic peaks of concentration, require the development of new automated methodologies and methods for monitoring selected priority pollutants in superficial waters. The implementation of the WFD requires Member States to gain a better understanding of priority pollutants entering surfaces waters. For that purpose, a list of 33 priority pollutants has been identified and its presence must be monitored and limited in water bodies.
The EQS establishes quantity limits to those priority pollutants. In this sense, the company is able to participate in projects about the development of Real-Time Systems for monitoring contaminants in waters.
The company has a high experience in methods validation for organic microcontaminants, microbiology and molecular biology. The company could participate in the validation phase of on-line detection methods such as microfluidic and biochips for in situ detection of organic and microbiology contaminants. The validations will be performed in comparison with the traditional methods proposed in the current legislations. On the other hand, the company has the possibility of compare the developed devices with passive samplers that they have developed in their laboratory and are installed in different environments such as rivers and Water Treatment Plants (WTP). The company has participated in two European project related to this subject.
